Greg King, Chairperson

Greg King is a pivotal figure at Gippsland FM, serving as a Board Director and Program Director. He also hosts “Classic Aussie Cuts,” showcasing home-grown talent from emerging artists to superstars.
As a board member, Greg’s leadership is vital for Gippsland FM’s strategic direction, ensuring the station’s continued role as a vibrant community hub that connects the region through diverse and engaging content.
Marika Gacs, Executive Director

An established local businesswoman, Marika is well known in the local community. She has 25 years-experience in business and hospitality, owning various restaurants and bakeries in the Latrobe Valley.

Her involvement in the community saw her awarded the prestigious Latrobe Valley Senior Citizen of the year award in 2020. She has a strong governance background and has served on advisory boards for Federation University’s business and economics department, the Latrobe City Council’s Events and Tourism board and was a founding member of the LCBTA where she served for 15 years and actively involved in the popular People’s Choice Awards for the region.

These days, Marika is an active board member at the Morwell Bowling Club and the Latrobe City Business Chamber as well as valued member of Gippsland FM.

David Burt, Executive Director

David Burt brings a wealth of experience to the Gippsland FM Board, stemming from a 40-year career in the Latrobe Valley power industry, commencing with SECV in 1982. His diverse roles included leading Human Resources for Yallourn and EnergyAustralia’s energy assets for 15 years.

Since 2019, David has been EnergyAustralia’s Latrobe Valley Community Relations Lead, fostering vital stakeholder relationships. His governance expertise is further evidenced by his past service as a Moe City Councillor and former Chairperson of PowerWorks, demonstrating a strong commitment to community and effective leadership.

David is married to Maria and enjoys time with his three grandchildren.

Richard Elkington (OAM), Executive Director

Richard is a former energy industry executive and held numerous other Board roles in various government and non-government organisations. He is a lifetime member of The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) and has just on 30 years experience with Gippsland FM.

Jordan Mercer, Executive Director

Jordan has over three decades of experience in the telecommunications industry and moved to the Latrobe Valley five years ago to join Aussie Broadband. He has a keen interest in local industry affairs and participated in the Your Valley Your Voice mine rehabilitation panel 2024. Jordan is also an enthusiastic member of the Yinnar South fire brigade. Jordan hopes to bring his deep technical and operational expertise to the running of Gippsland FM.

Tony Flynn, Executive Director
Ken Thompson, Secretary – Office Bearer, Non Director

Ken has dedicated over 48 years to community broadcasting, demonstrating extensive governance and volunteer leadership. Since joining 3GCR in 1976, Ken has served the station for more than four decades in various roles and is the station’s longest serving Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary (the role he currently holds).   He is also Treasurer of the Community Broadcasting Association Of Victoria and has completed ten years as a grant assessor with the Community Broadcasting Foundation.

He has also been a long-time presenter at the station currently hosting “Ageless Adventures (in fine music) and is part of the Thursday morning breakfast show.  A Life Member of Gippsland FM, Ken’s commitment to community service, station governance and training are the hallmarks of his participation.

Lyn Downes, Treasurer – Office Bearer, Non Director
